Alright everybody PM: Gravity is looking for players to fill a couple holes in our roster for the next C7 event. We have been on the podium in both the events this year and are looking to keep the streak alive. The team is looking for 2-3 players. I won't personally be playing in the event but will be there coaching (school permitting). If you're interested, give me a shout and we'll have you come try out for the squad.

So I ran into an old acquaintance a couple days ago and while we where catching up I mentioned that Ive been playing Paintball for the past 8 months. Starting with Summer woods ball at Braggcreek and Millarville. And I just didn't want to stop playing because it is just so much fun and I love the intensity of the game play, so I took the game indoors so I could keep playing and get better at shooting, strategy, communication, and exercise. But when I mentioned indoor paintball this dude scoffed and instantly labelled me a Speedballer. Now is that so bad I thought? And what is it that makes him feel like Speedballers are possibly inferior? Is it the clothes Speedballers wear? baggy colourful pants, shirts, masks and guns? Do speedballers look like they are too concerned about their appearance? Are speedballers too labelled up, looking like Nascar racers in their branded clothing? He also mentioned "yeah we like having speedballers lay down heavy cover fire for us" WTH? Yeah speedballers have ramping on their guns but I know for a fact that not all speedballers use ramping on their guns and play like they do indoors. So I guess my first initial thought was 'Hmm i never really thought of myself as a speedballer even though I play with a speedball style gun' I just think of myself as a Paintball player using everything I can to be a 'Better' paintball player. If you want to pigeon hole players into categories thats fine, but be aware we should all be out there to have a great time with great people, playing an amazing game.

Well, I thought I would share a quick update on how the weekend went for some of the teams that we share this forum with.

The Flying V - Div3
The final roster was put together with only 2 weeks to the big show and without a 6th player on Saturday we were forced to ironman. Fortunately the team gelled from the beginning and we finished Saturday a respectable 5-3. For a team made up mostly of old and fat woodsballers we held our own including handing our good friends the Kindersley Kuru their only loss on the day. Unfortunately age caught up with us on Sunday and dispite having a spare (that we ended up needing due to a minor collison between a paintball and my ear) we lost our final 2 games of round robin play. That placed us 6th going into playoffs where we faced off against the #3 team, Vancity Threat. We put up one hell of a battle but Vancity made the moves they needed to take down our best of 3 matchup. All I can say is we are looking forward to next year. A special thanks to Aaron Wills and Alex Mah for joining us and having a great time.

Project Mayhem: Gravity - Div4
This team has spent lots of time practicing leading up to the event and it showed. They have some excellent players on the team and I expect big things from them. For this weekend they started out strong finishing round robin play an impressive 8-2 putting a lock on 2nd place. That finish placed them against MobScene, a pump team from Edmonton that Project Mayhem has had the pleasure of playing along side at a Rampage Big Game. Sometimes faster is better and Gravity was able to bring the pain to our friends from the North to move on to the Semi-finals. In the Semi-finals Gravity went head to head with another team made up of Project Mayhem Allies in the Calgary Chargers. This was a tough match with the Chargers handing Gravity a loss in the first best of three match-up. But Gravity regrouped and pushed back at the Chargers winning the second game to force a 3rd and final game to decide who would move on to the finals. The battle was hard but the Chargers finished on top. Gravity then moved on to fight it out for 3rd place with Whiplash where they controlled the play and finished it out in just two games. Congrats to Gravity for a great showing at their first CPPL Nationals event. We'll see you in Div3 next year!

Calgary Chargers - Div4
The Calgary Chargers played well and finished round robin play in 3rd place behind Gravity. A 7-3 record is very impressive. In the first round they faced Panther C and had their hands full, needing 3 games to close it out and move on to the Semis. There they met our friends Project Mayhem: Gravity where the battle was fierce but the Chargers finished on top with another match-up that needed 3 games to decide the winner. In the finals the Chargers faced Hostile which needed yet another 3 games after splitting the first two. In the end, the Calgary Chargers finished on top and won the right to hoist the cup as the 2012 CPPL Champions of Div4!

Congrats to all the teams for making this year one of the best on record with some amazing games at all levels. This year was one to remember and I look forward to what the members of this forum can do next year. Way to go everyone!
